This place is one of the most incompetent along with having the worst management/leadership I have ever personally worked with. In my opinion. MG does not give the care that the residents are paying for. The meals and the food quality is completely poor. MG does not have the conditions safe or even clean. They do not have enough employees to provide the care the residents need or the time to take for their mental health. I would not recommend this to a family member for a friend or even an enemy. I genuinely love all of the residents I have provided care to. I was so excited to be a part of this company. I did not think I could be this disappointed. I hope the other Facilities in other locations are not being ran like this one. If you are considering becoming an employee reconsider. It is not worth the constant headache. The upper staff do not care about the employees and do not communicate well. It is not a healthy environment for anyone. Again.... my opinion for legal reasons.
We had a very positive experience with Jennipher when we visited Merrill Gardens. She was very generous with her time and answered all of our questions regarding services they provide for dementia care. Her experience and background with dementia was very insightful and helpful to us. The tour of the Garden Room wing was most enlightening and appreciated. We cannot say enough good things about Jennipher and our visit today. S & K
I regret to say that my experience was deeply disappointing. My father's time here was marked by multiple oversights, lack of attention, and an overall absence of empathy from the staff. On numerous occasions, I found his basic necessities ignored, leading to discomfort and distress. It's a heart-wrenching feeling to entrust a loved one to professionals, only to feel they aren’t receiving the care they deserve. I sincerely hope other families have better experiences, but based on ours, I cannot recommend!
Unfortunately, my experience was not positive and I am not exaggerating when I say that choosing Merrill Gardens at Sheldon Park was THE WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE. There was a tremendous disconnect between what we were told to expect versus the reality. There was no "inspiring environment... where every life is defined by the possibilities" as their mission states. We were told how important the emotional well-being was of each resident. We were told how they would support him during the adjustment period. None of this was our experience. In the first week, a closet door fell off in my hands while I was organizing clothes and I moved the door to the side and told front office staff about it to get it repaired. However, what was put in the records was that my father, "ripped the door off the hinges," which shows what he experienced from the start and had to endure. They did remove that from the records after I complained, but why did I have to do that? Shortly after that, my father got a UTI and they used this as an opportunity to tell us that that he could not come back, leaving us in the hospital with no home to return to. So much for "defining life by the possibilities." I am glad to read that others have had positive experiences, maybe there have been changes since we were there. But I can't recommend this place.
MG is a place that takes care of your family member along with members of the family. My brother and I are extremely pleased with the care our mother receives at MG. The staff is attentive, pleasant and provide topnotch care. Our mom was hesitant to move to an Assisted Living community however it truly was the best decision for all of us. My brother and I have been blessed with the attention to her care, something we no longer could provide. Thank you MG for everything you have done for our family. The peace of mind you gave us was priceless.
